Every year the Foundation For Education awards teacher grants throughout school district 145. These grants are awarded twice per year once in the Fall and once in the Spring. Providing valuable support to the educational endeavors of teachers and students is our mission. These grant recipients compete for approximately $10,000/per year in grant funds.
On Monday March 5th three Teacher Grants were awarded to Eagle Elementary School. All Featuring IPads for a total award of $ 3721 Michelle Dutton, Jamie Hestermann and Megan Flohr were available to receive their awards. On Wednesday March 7th Waverly High School Teachers Sheri Jansen and Cheryl Ladd were awarded $1154 for their grant also featuring an IPad as well as a Document Camera.
We are excited to share the results of our Spring Grant Awards, as these important awards would not be possible without the wonderful support of parents, business owners and community members district wide. Your support at our upcoming Annual Golf Tournament on June 2nd 2012, will greatly assist us in being able to continue funding these grants.
Previous Grant Recipients Describe the Impact the FFE is Making in Our Schools
“Students are excited to to see technology in the classroom. They asked about the Mimio teach bar and the document camera. Now that I have it up and running, the students look forward to using the new technology on a daily basis. It engages them because it is new and it is something they can use as well.” - Kellie Milleson
“More than half of the students in class plan on using the table router at this point. I believe this is because students feel safe to use the table router. Students are able to take their skills a step beyond any class before them. They are more confident and less hesitant to use the table router compared to the hand held router.” - Aaron Jones
The graphing calculators have allowed me to discuss introductory things at a much earlier time without students having to be caught up in the “mathiness” of the work. They allow more depth of understanding by providing a visual that students otherwise wouldn’t have had” - Cindy Boss
